Train travel from Bangkok Thailand to Penang Malaysia following a route through Padang Besar, on the Malaysian border, and onto Butterworth for a Ferry to Georgetown Penang in Malaysia. The entire journey takes more than 24 hours and includes a sleeper train for travel through the South of Thailand. Always go for the lower berth on Thai trains.
